Now that the basement is his studio, we want to create a more inviting workspace down there (we probably should have done that before it became his studio, but whatever). We've hired a company to insulate the exterior walls and crawl space with spray foam while Adam tours Eastern Canada with his band (you can find tour dates here), which should give the foam plenty of time to cure properly. Once Adam's back and the drywall is up (yes, he'll be teaching lessons upstairs for at least a couple of weeks), I think it's a good idea to tackle the concrete floors (you know, so we only have to move our junk in and out once). And I love the idea of staining them, thanks to this inspiration (and this):

I think it's gorgeous, but what do you think? Would you try staining your concrete floors?

Yes. In Wisconsin staining, painting and finishing garage floors is an everyday thing. People here utilize the space as most people use a finished basement. I have looked into epoxy coatings and now there are a lot of easy to apply coatings so you don't need a professional even in high wear areas like a garage floor. As usual, preparation is key. I know you can do-it-yourself and end up with a great looking floor as you have illustrated.
ReplyDeleteI say go for staining the concrete for sure! It will look great... so much better than your basic concrete. We had considered it for our front entrance when we reno'd last fall, but it would've involved reinforcing the floor and everything... then we found that tile and stained concrete was a thing of the past haha. I do think it's perfect for a basement though!
ReplyDeleteWhy not. They look great.

I'm new to developing sites and I was wondering if having your website title related to your articles and other content really that important? I see your title, "Blogger: House Pretty Blog " does seem to be spot on with what your website is about but, I prefer to keep my title less content descriptive and based more around site branding. Would you think this is a good idea or bad idea? Any assistance would be greatly valued.
